Unable to connect to PC
Hey guys, I have been unable to connect my HP Prime to PC via connectivity kit for months. (I have been able to connect it in the past, maybe 1-2 years ago) I have tried it on multiple PCs on windows 11, windows 10, compatibility mode on windows 7. Hp prime turns on when I connect the USB but it refuses to appear in the app no matter what I have tried. Please help me

RE: Unable to connect to PC
Are you using a charging only cable rather than a data cable such as the one supplied with the Prime?

Looking at a few unboxing videos I think the cable I have been using is a regular charging cable... I will have to see if I can find the other cable, or buy one from amazon. |

However the cable in the photo you posted does indeed look just like the cable that came with early Primes; it's rather uncommon for a cable to include the rubber boot, but the cable HP included with early Primes did have one just like shown. --Bob Prosperi |

RE: Unable to connect to PC
) Your cable looks like the one that came with my G2 Prime.
) The connectivity kit installs a mini-networking protocol called "Bonjour" which can be blocked by inapproriate firewall setting. ) Have you installed a third-party anti-virus or firewall program? They could be blocking the Bonjour mini-networking protocol. ) You will have to get the HP Prime update from http://www.hpcalc.org, The intended server for the Prime is not working at this time. The update will probabally have to be done manually. Regards |

I dont know where that cable is right now so I ordered that one from amazon, hopefully that will work |

Early Prime kits also included a 2nd cable for unit-to-unit direct connection for exchanging data among devices. I'm not sure if a Prime kit still includes this 2nd cable, it's been > 11 years since I bought my Prime. Also, I understand Primes sold in EU don't include a power adapter (the justification is 'everyone has one already) and possibly not the USB cable either. --Bob Prosperi |

RE: Unable to connect to PC
Have you tried rebooting the calculator (On+symb or the little reset button on the back)? I've had problems and general wierdness in the past around connecting it to a computer, but rebooting the calculator had always fixed them.

RE: Unable to connect to PC
Alright so I got the cable, reinstalled the app from https://www.hpcalc.org/details/8938. Connected everything and still HP Prime does not show up in the connectivity kit. I have tried to reset it (On+Symb), ran the app in admin mode, nothing
Is there any settings on the prime/kit I should look at? |

RE: Unable to connect to PC
Have you checked to verify if the Bonjour service is running? It shows up in TaskManager as mDNSResponder.exe.
Also, try suspending your AV/Security s/w firewall temporarily, it might be blocking the network comms used to connect. --Bob Prosperi |
