HP.com website... where are the calculators?
I spent hours (OK, perhaps two or three minutes) perusing the HP.com website looking for their current calculator offerings. I gave up.
If HP still sells calculators, they're making them awfully difficult to find. Yes, I was able to find them following a general Web search: http://h30094.www3.hp.com/searchresults....rch_id=164 That pages shows a grand total of eight if you count the 12c twice. It doesn't even list the HP Prime, so I don't believe it's complete. What's going on with HP? From all appearances they don't sell calculators. Ink? Yes. Their extremely successful and popular tablets, yes. But calculators? Nada. |

Not a problem. I'm just questioning HP's commitment to the product line, when I can't even find one by going to their website.

Having read about hp.com repeatedly, that's really no news anymore.

HP has had this landing page working for many years: http://www.hp.com/calculators The actual pages the calc info lives on seems to constanly change, but this landing page has always worked and believe they intend to keep it this way as much of their marketing materials publish this url. Links on this page give you access to only some of the calculator stuff available though. There is actually a lot of info on older models buried with the support section, though these materials seem to come and go as the support area is improved. hth --Bob Prosperi |

RE: HP.com website... where are the calculators?
The strange thing is, you'd think they would have a nice little link or button (maybe a picture of the Prime or 35 or something popular that is clickable) directly on http://www.hp.com - and that would take people right to http://www.hp.com/calculators.
My question to HP's marketing department would be, why make it harder than it should be for someone NEW to buy your product? Customers who have bought before and liked it will take the time to do a search and find it. Customers who bought before and didn't like it are gone already. NEW customers, clicking on http://www.hp.com for the first time, might not even be aware that HP sells calculators. That's exactly the moment to educate them and pique their interest! |

I'm not answering for them, but I think the answer is actually pretty simple. Calculators make up far less than 1% of HP's annual sales; every product group vies for some space on the home page, which is pretty spartan to begin with. I would never expect to see calculators on the hp home page, except perhaps for a short period announcing some exceptional event, such as the launch of the Prime. (I don't think they did - TW? Just saying it would have to be some special event to do so). I figure I share opinions when I don't agree with HP, I may as well do so when I do agree as well. --Bob Prosperi |

RE: HP.com website... where are the calculators?
I've tried Learn more about scientific calculators. On Mozilla, prices don't show up. On IE, the layout looks strange. In either browser some text appears to be missing in the description.
Why can't HP get at least their presentation look right? Kicked out too many employees? |

Unless you are HUGE/STRATEGIC and/or someone in the top tier takes a real liking to what you just did it pretty much takes an act of deity to be featured on the main page. TW Although I work for HP, the views and opinions I post here are my own. |

RE: HP.com website... where are the calculators?
I was hoping you'd reply Tim!
That confirms my suspicion (sadly). A quick read of HP's most recent 10-K indicates that every piece of hardware HP sells excluding desktops, laptops, printers, enterprise equipment and support - a category they call "other" and I assume includes our beloved calculators - that entire category represents 1.1% of their total revenue. I'm not sure if that 1.1% includes tablets, which are given a prominent position on their home page. Maybe they'd sell a few more calculators if they were easier to find? A prospective customer almost certainly needs to know where to look before he has any hopes of finding them. |
