It's impossible to tell what's available to moderators only on this forum, and this function seems like it should be available to all members as it's not revealing anything you can't find out otherwise. I suppose I need to create a "mortal" ID so that I can test these things out before posting them. -katie |

Would we give status reports à la "Just turned my HP-XY on... was great to see the red LEDs glimmer/the liquid-crystal display in its sharpest contrast." or "Keyed a program to calculate the n-th numeric derivative of function XYZ. Achieved to implement a routine which handles complex numbers too - made my day!"? How would the chronic look like? "My first calculator was a HP-XY, was a member of PPC-RandomCity, am now struggling with my new HP-Prime after X years of abstinence." Although this forum does also its job by helping socialize people, fortunately it is devoid of the ability to communicate every-day banalities for which F***book has become infamous. If you have difficulties to explain your significant other were the distinctive feature of this forum is in comparison to that infamous one, tell him/her that the data collected here is for the sake to make the world a better place, or just a place of better calculators - which is significant enough. Cheers Frido P.S.: Please give me a "thumbs up" for this comment ;-) |

RE: 2000 Registered Members!
Well, I'm one of those new 2015 members. Joined the day I purchased my new HP Prime. So far, I've just been absorbing content and learning. I hope to soon provide some programming content for the forum.
As a point of reference, I'm in my mid-50's and was in high school back when calculators were just becoming mainstream. I've typically been a TI man (back in the day) but always longed for an HP. During college, I toyed with the Sharps and other LCD programmable calculators (pocket computers). Only HPs I've owned were a 32S-II (bought on clearance, sold on Ebay for about 4x that amount later on) and now my Prime (which I love). |

There is a lot of Prime activity here, and I dare say you can learn more about using Prime here, than anywhere else. For advanced use, you can probably learn more here than from the manual, though read it too of course. Some of the Prime's developers participate here on a regular basis. --Bob Prosperi |
