Prime on a loop inserting a radical
I was trying to insert the radical \SQRT((t+i)/(-t+i))^i and Prime is gone on a loop without ending...
Also Emulator behaviors so: top right "clepsydra" (sand clock) working, and after several minutes a dialog box: "The application has crashed and will be restarted"...

With an expression like this first "Simplify" sent the calculator in crash also. The expression was c*t*e^((i/2)*ln((t+i)/(-t+i))), got applying "atrig2ln()" to the expression c*t*e^ATAN(t)... Hit "Simplify" on that expression also emulator (as Prime) hangs...

***
\( \left(\sqrt{ \frac{t+i}{-t+i} }\right) ^{i} \) -> crash
atrig2ln(c*t*e^ATAN(t)) -> -> \( cte^{(\frac{i}{2})\log{ \frac{(-t+i)}{-t+i} }} \) -> Simplify crash also
***

RE: Prime on a loop inserting a radical
I tried this some 20 minutes ago, at first the sandclock worked, then it stopped, the calculator freezed and did not react to any keypresses.

After a long time I had to press the reset key (paper clip) to restart it.

now I don't remember if I pressed, instead, On+Symb, or the Prime restarted by itself...

However is a strange "bug"...

RE: Prime on a loop inserting a radical
It seems to be related to the imaginary i, I tried

\( \sqrt{((t+a)/(-t+a))^a} \)

and it works.

Then I stored a:=i, retried tha same expression and it freezed again.

yes!

Emulator (6975) crashes also with only \[ \left(\sqrt{\frac{1}{2}}\right)^{i} \]
help!

Also my real Prime, it crashes already with

\( \sqrt{2}^i \)

Why ???

RE: Prime on a loop inserting a radical
xcas does not crash with these expressions, so the problem is only related to HP Prime.

still the Prime hangs with the firmware 7820...
√2^i and the Prime goes on a loop; hint: On+Symb

Couldn't reproduce any of the errors reported here after the update. Never tried before though.

(√2)^i here in Home ok: 0.9405+0.3396i

In CAS the calculation seems endless, and I can exit only with ON+Symb :-(

Same here, it crashes even with new firmware 7820.

Yes, same here,

and interestingly, in CAS,

(sqrt(2))^i returns sqrt(2^i).

Works fine for me in both Home and CAS: 0.9405... + 0.3397...i. You might check your settings. I have the latest firmware release.

You're getting approximate results in CAS. Try again with the Exact option checked in the CAS Settings.

I assumed it was a settings issue. I tried Exact in Cas and got the symbolic answer
Sqrt(2^i) but it didn't hang or crash.

The bug comes into play when the radical symbol (√) is used:

It has already been established by Helge that the bug does not present itself if the sqrt() function is used in place of the radical symbol:

Even the developer has agreed that this is a bug.

RE: Prime on a loop inserting a radical
I used the square root key, not the Sqrt() function. I am not denying that there is a bug. I just can't seem to reproduce it. What are your CAS settings?
