RE: S/N 1926A HP 41C on TAS
Several years ago I bought a 1930A, complete w/o box, and 4 RAMs for $78.
This is way too overpriced, IMO. Greetings, Massimo -+×÷ ↔ left is right and right is wrong |

I believe this same unit was sold a couple weeks ago, but not in 100% working condition and for much less. Looks like Scott nabbed and restored it. I agree with Massimo about price, but there is little doubt someone will grab it for a collection. Thanks for sharing. --Bob Prosperi |

Well, at least the base of the calculator appears to be an early one.
Who warrants for the rest? Cheers Frido |

Yeah, it was listed for under 8 hours before sold... and I was wrong earlier, the one listed 2 weeks ago was unit #249 manufactured in the first week, this one was #250. --Bob Prosperi |

Wonder what the odds are of *ever* seeing another two adjacent serial numbers on a pair of HP 41 units. Certainly never from the first week of production. Wow.
That said, I'm happy with my 1931A and 1932A models. :-) |

The item sold for $420.
A little ebay tip to see the price in situations like this...go to the original listing and click on the 'print' link. The printer friendly page that is displayed shows the selling price. |

To be transparent to all people who followed this threat: So, 1926A00250 has reached its destination. Scott and me found a price we can both live with.
In opposit to #248 this item works perfect and was never opened before. The template has some very small things in it, looking like the bad Case material beginning to dissolve, but its IN the template and not ON... |

Good to know such a rare beast ended up in good hands, where one may contact owner with a question, etc. Is this the earliest known 41C in captivity? For those new to this, Scott almost always has some rare and interesting gems available. See the original link or PM me for info. Thanks Matthias! --Bob Prosperi |

RE: S/N 1926A HP 41C on TAS
I bought HP41C 1926A00248 recently. "Sold as-is, for parts or repair only". US$199.00.
This calculator was not fully functional: there was a crack in the screen and some LCD leakage. I cleaned the calculator and changed the frontal part with the screen from a 1943 calculator. The CPU is the original with 3 transistors and the other parts are from the 1926 calculator and it has the bugs. The 1943 calculator has now the screen with the LCD leakage and its cpu is with 2 transistors but it works. 1943 calculator does not have the bugs. The 1926 calculator is now cosmetically fine and has a Quad Memory Module and a card reader. The card reader has MALFUNCTION, a little more of work. The calculator is in Guatemala, Central America. I will try to upload photos if it is possible. Best Regards, Edwin PD. I tried to change screen to the 1943 from a 20XX and does not work. The screen is different, maybe that's the reason. I learned that serial numbers are correlated within the week. Be careful with low numbers announced at high prices but that are not 1926 or similar. Eg 1940A00007 is not a low number. It is a number 7 into week 40. That is one of the many thousands produced. Maybe 1926A00248, 249 or 250 calculators were the first 250 ????? |
