(50G) Various utilities for EE/circuit design by Stephen Edwards, Maxim Integrated
Some of you may be aware of a set of EE utilities for HP 50g calculators written by Stephen Edwards. Most of them are available for download from hpcalc.org for years:

http://www.hpcalc.org/hp49/science/electricity/

However, some months ago I stumbled upon newer versions of all of these programs on:

http://www.maximintegrated.com/en/design...ors/hp50g/

Since Eric apparently hasn't found the time to update the files (I contacted him weeks ago), I would like to give you an overview of the newer versions:

RE: [HP 50g] Various utilities for EE/circuit design by Stephen Edwards, Maxim Integrated
Hello matthiaspaul

I have tried to use the hp50 programs of Stephen Edwards with the Calc utlity that enables to choose one of the programs. Calc shows the programs in the matrix menu but after "run" mentions: XXXX.hp not found on the SD card! Yet I have put the programs in the root of the SD card. Do you have any idea of what could be wrong?

Unfortunately, I have no really good idea, but one thing you should try is to re-install the applications and see if this fixes the problem. Otherwise, copy the files on a freshly formatted card, or even try another card. If this works, CALC's author might be interested in a problem report including a image of the SD card.
In my experience, most embedded and many desktop FAT file system implementations are buggy or incomplete, and it is quite likely, that this also holds true for the FAT implementation in the HP 50g (although I haven't analyzed the 50g's implementation in detail). I don't know, if this holds true for the 50g, but many files in the root directory in a FAT12 or FAT16 volume (in particular if they carry LFNs as well) or more than one cluster full of entries in a FAT32 volume are a common problem for incomplete implementations, so it is worth trying if avoiding these conditions would work around the problem for you.

Greetings,

Matthias

Good news:

Eric has meanwhile found the time to update the files, so all of Stephen's current distributions can be found at hpcalc.org as well. Since corporate sites cannot be trusted to provide files long-term, it's good to know they are mirrored now elsewhere. Thanks, Eric. :-)

Since STC was relatively new, it wasn't previously available through hpcalc.org, but now can be found at:

I will reinstall the files onto a fresh and newly formatted sd-card. Hope everything will work then. Thank you for the advise and Eric for updating the files.
I'll let you know the results...

RE: [HP 50g] Various utilities for EE/circuit design by Stephen Edwards, Maxim Integrated
Fail. Alas.

What I did till now: formatting the sd-card with the HP50 itself. Copying the (new) .hp-files to this card. Moving the calc-file to the home-directory. Starting this file upon which it tells to install the various applications. This all goes well as far as I can follow. Then choosing the calc-var it shows the installed applications in a matrix. After choosing one of these apps, eg. accu, a message follows: ACCU.hp Not found on the SD card! I checked the sd-card and found the ACCU.hp on it.

Could it be that the search is case-sensitive?

What can I do more?
