Laportes website not available

To everybody,

The website of jaques laporte, which had valuable information about HP calculator hardware, software, history and algorithms is not longer available.

Does anybody know what happened? I really like to have this website back.
It contained also an HP-25 java emulator with debugger. Do I have to rewrite my own HP-25 debugger now?

This is very sad news. I feel like having lost somebody like a friend, that I never met. His research helped me to develop the new ACT chip. And it was always a great pleasure full of discoveries to read his articles when I was visiting his website.

My deepest sympathy to his friends and relatives.

If will not be violation, I could share this archive for all members, and can anyone be able to recover this website in memory of its Founder...

While I am not a Lawyer, I can say that most cases of people copying websites have been found to be OK, since after all, the content was public for anyone to see or copy in the first place. The issues come if you try to make money by displaying someone else's copyrighted content.

It is good practice to also ask his family's permission to do so, however I would not wait for it since it can be presumed to be OK.

Please do share it; I'm sure Jacques would have wished this community be able to see his work.

If you navigate on the snapshot stored at archive.org you'll notice that not everything has been archived and some pages/pictures are missing.

This usually means the embedded photos were not hosted in the same place as the web-page content. You may be able to track the links to where they were hosted, but it too may be gone now.
