FRAM71 Ticking Like a Time Bomb
Following Dave's new thread I started my 71 with FRAM71 to play around with the settings.

Now I get a ticking noise from the device. Any idea what that means?

i suppose you mean that the beeper is ticking. make sure that jumpers J2 and CN2:x are all properly set. i suggest to do a full reset:
1) turn off your HP-71B.
2) remove all power supplies (charger and / or all batteries.
3) open the card reader bay.
4) with FRAM71 installed, short card reader connector 11 (GND) and card reader connector pin 1 (VDD) with a straightened paper clip for 5 seconds. consult manual, chapter "Board Connectors" if in doubt about location of pins.
5) close card reader bay.
6) apply power.
7) turn HP-71B on, it will most likely show MEMORY LOST.
8) ticking should be gone.

give me a ring if that doesn't help.
