And quite an update this is! After several hours, I still am not through even half of it.

I'll keep digging and sending you stuff as I find it.

An amazing resource here Sylvain! No machine has ever been as well documented all in one place; a hugely useful collection of info that not only saves me time when looking for something, it also continues to teach me about a machine I've used for 32+ years. Smile Smile

Thanks for the dedication and perseverance to continually enhance this!

RE: HP-71B Compendium Article Update
I suggest that Valentin Albillo's article, Long Live the HP-71B! be added to the Compendium.

RE: HP-71B Compendium Article Update
Thank you Matthias, these pictures are coming at an excellent time, see this thread

I have three HHP modules in my collection, but unfortunately I do not have any CMT-CR modules yet.

The models that I have are:

HHP 71 M/M 32KB EPROM (no battery backup)
HHP 71 M/M 32KB RAM / 32KB EPROM (no battery backup)
HHP 71 M/M 96KB RAM (no battery backup)

From your pictures, I see that ...
1) CMT64 -> 2 x 32KB front port modules was used and it has a battery backup
2) CMT128 -> 4 x 32KB front port modules was used and it has a battery backup (surprise, why not use 2 x 64K RAM front port modules instead ???)
3) HHP 32E -> yep same as mine
4) HHP 64K -> surprise here, they seem to have used 1 x 64KB RAM board instead of 2 x 32KB boards like the 96KB RAM module (3 x 32KB)
5) HHP 96K -> again same as mine
6) HHP 160K -> I was not aware that HHP had produced a 160KB RAM module, image is not clear enough to distinguish the board types (probably 2 x 64KB + 1 x 32 KB)
7) HHP 32KE -> actually it is a HHP 71 M/M 32KB RAM / 32KB EPROM module, same as mine

A new compendium update will be published this week that will include the card reader modules (HHP, CMT & FRAM71) among other things.

Best regards,

Sylvain

If you can, a CMT-CR module from the front (with the CMT logo facing the camera) would make a great CMT-CR section picture.
And of course if you already have some pictures of the boxes that would be great.
Thanks again,

Sylvain

Thank you all!
I really enjoy doing it.

Dave,

I have more than enough material to create one for the HP-75, HP-IL, HP-41, etc.
But for now, I am and will be focusing on the 71 Compendium project for 2016.

Right now I can only take one project of this size per year.
I already spent more than 200 hours on it since last December and is still incomplete.
Remember, this is done on my free time, after my normal work hours (40-60hrs/week) and my family time.

For sure, I am stretching the limit of the "Article Forum" capability and I will have to decide what I will do for 2017.
If I decide for the web site, then I may not be able to publish another compendium for 2017 because
I will build a dynamic, interconnected & fully indexed web site, which will be a project in itself.
If not, then a HP-75 Compendium is the logical next step, followed by a HP-IL one.

Best regards,

Sylvain

Bravo Sylvain, bravo!!

I've loved and studied this great machine for > 30 years, and I'm still learning more from your awesome documentation effort; Thanks so much for that.

I would say one project like this a year is certainly enough, but we of course look forward to more once you've rested.

Thanks!

Robert,
I really like doing this because, I get to use (play) with my extensive collections items (toys) and to relearn old forgotten stuff.
My goal here was to to complain or to say that I need rest, but give an idea of the scope and the time it takes to make it.
Also, it was to manage any expectation about when another compendium or dedicated web site will be done.
I fully agree with Dave that it will be fantastic if we had a compendium on the HP-75 and there will one in time, but not just now.
In the mean time, I have started working on the next update of the 71 Compendium who will include all the things that
Jean-François Garnier sent me since last December and also an expanded FORTH coverage (books, standards, etc).
After that, I will make an inventory of all the articles in all the journals (PPC, CHHU, HPX, DATAFILE, etc) where the 71 was mentioned.
Best regards,
Sylvain
