If I type the same key very fast several times, only every other keypress is registered by the calculator ( firmware V19). So, for example, "666666" becomes "666". (On my HP12CP I can type as fast as I want to and every keypress is registered.)
I sent an email to SwissMicros about this; I believe the problem comes from what is called "KEYTIME" for the 50g. I have proposed that this parameter should be made accessible (and changeable) using the serial console.

I presume this is with the speed set to 12MHz? I get something of this sort at 12MHz, but it disappears at 48MHz.

RE: DM 15L keypress problems
It's true that the minimum time interval required between two keystrokes is shorter in the 48MHz mode of the DM15L; for me it's still problematic because it slows me down while typing even in the fast mode.
I have sent a report to SwissMicros. It's the ONLY element where the HP15cLE is still better than the DM15L.

RE: DM 15L keypress problems
UPDATE: I reported the "fast-type" keystroke loss issue to SwissMicros. They suggested that I remove the battery and short-cut the calculator. I'm happe to report that this simple step removed all problems regarding lost keystrokes immediately.
I know it's the very first thing I should have done before going public with this issue, but I thought it's a firmware problem, similar to the random key press losses that are observed with firmware v16.
SwissMicros is a company with excellent customer service.

I am curious did you mean to say "Short-Out" (As in short battery Plus to battery Minus to drain any capacitors before replacing the battery) instead of "short-cut"?

The modeling crowd uses clear-coat finishes to protect the final paint job on their models. A matte finish would probably do fine, and it's be easy to apply if you can disassemble to remove the key pad from the openings of the key plate.

I was growing concerned about that key press loss problem when typing quickly on my 16L (I don't use the 15L nearly as often), which had become worse after I upgraded to v21, and I found your message. I gave it a try and, sure enough, no more key problem.

I wonder how all this unnecessary worrisome issue started, since it can be fixed so easily.

RE: DM 15L keypress problems
I have the keystroke problem at 12MHz. Fast 3x typing a number often leads to just 2 numbers. At 48MHz problem disappears. I will send an email with a video to Swissmicros.

Same here with a just purchased DM-15L (M1B V21 S/N# 01248). At 48 MHz it works flawlessly.

A question, the ON+1/x string reports, after the battery voltage, the letters "RTC". What do they mean? Evenmore, there's a piezo buzzer inside. I suppose that RTC means "Real Time Clock" and that both it and the buzzer are used in the DM-41L incarnation of this hardware but, are any of them accessible from the 15L software?

Regards.

Through the serial console: http://www.hpmuseum.org/forum/thread-564...l#pid50492
