Serial numbers for HP-01 are only 4 digits, so "000001" is not possible, I'm sorry. You will get "0001" instead. I will content myself with "0002". Thank you for having enjoyed reading the manual. I spent the last three days with it. I'm sure I used many wrong english expressions, and I will release a next version after having got more editorial. By the way, I found a HP-01 for 260,-Euro only some month ago. RE: HP-01 available
Since the new HP-01 boards arrived end of june, I had running three of them permanently, or at least some days uninterrupted, together with the original HP-01 (the right in the image below). Two of them running in an original watch case with battery cells (left and middle in the image below), one running separately without case (because I don't have another one). I found only some minor bugs, one concerning alarm beep, it didn't beep after countdown in sleep mode and another showing stopwatch hours correctly if stopwatch was running more than 12 hours, both are fixed now. The time does count correctly as you can see in the image.
left HP-01 Stainless Steel repaired but missing original wrist band, middle HP-01 Gold repaired, right original HP-01 Stainless Steel. I admit, that I couldn't press three T buttons fast enough to shoot this photo, so I manipulated it to show all three watches with display on. But they do show the same time +- 1 second also in reality. I am very satisfied with the behaviour of the boards, no more tests are necessary. RE: HP-01 available
Maybe off topic, anyone knows or can make those red led crystal, I dropped mine and related to a new main board the best next things is to get a nice crystal/plexiglass fit. I saw Geoff made his own refurb but I guess there is perhaps more interest from other members?

Both my repaired HP-01s shown above are running now for about five months flawlessly. Yet one of them did stop running for one day, because I opened it for a presentation at the HP collection Allschwil meeting in october. Also today I got feedback from another HP-01 owner, who successfully repaired his watch with the repair kit by himself. There will be an improvement in the connection wires between the two PCBs by more flexible isolated wires for the next order, which will allow better handling when unfolding the two boards. RE: HP-01 available
You seemed to be using a 1.0 mm thick PCB, weren't you ? I was wondering if a 0.6 mm board could be used to avoid on sanding the RTC. In case you are using 0.8 mm, then forget it, as it is not going to bring much, I think.
I don't have a HP-01, but still find your work very remarkable. |

Even 0.6 mm would not release me from making the IC at least a little bit thinner, because I need to remove 0.5 mm on both sides. Happily the chip has enough package material around the circuit. Hey Matthias
You took the wrong way. Here in Basel it's tooo hot. I think the Engadin had the better (cooler) wether. I'm next weekend in Engelberg at the Brunnihütte. At 1860 meters above sea level it is still pleasant. Greetings from next door Hans-Peter |
