Looking for a name
We're busy behind the scenes thinking about the successor to the WP 34S. Unfortunately, it isn't going to be the WP 43S we've dreamed about, the three of us are very busy with real life and work and aren't going to get time to do the 43S justice soon. Rather, it will be a more modest extension of the 34S's capabilities. The device is envisaged to have:
  • The 43S menu system (or similar)
  • Simultaneous display of multiple stack levels (we're looking at four but no promises)
  • A status row showing all mode settings
  • The UNDO feature from the 31S

The first stumbling block is the name for this device. So to the forums for the answer. Please choose one of the following options or suggest an alternative...

If there are only two rows an xy<>zt button would be nice.

That's one small step for a man - one giant leap for mankind.

The 34S has CPX x<>y already -- two key presses gives the function you want. There is no way this is going to be reduced. Unshifted keys are always at a premium.

Hi, Pauli,
Is the hardware donor chosen already?

Yes, the name depends also on the hardware.

Oops, I was assuming a new hardware platform will be used here.
This is really bad.

So, to rephrase the question:
Will the new features be available on a new hardware platform, or will it be just an software edition for selected computer platforms/OS?

Programmable was my thought but the P models (okay all bar one) came from Walter so it will need confirmation off the forums.

I don't think I can say too much here at the moment. We won't be using a donor for this. The possible donors are either too resource limited or physically large. We are investigating hardware possibilities.

Just to note that 34Sii is probably going to be easier to search for than 34S+

RE: Looking for a name
Looks like we've got a clear winner here: 34SII.

I was incorrect, the P stood for Portrait.
