List of HP 48SX & 48GX cards
Is there a list being maintained that contains all known HP 48SX and 48GX RAM and ROM cards?
I've seen lists of library IDs from libraries that have been copied from various ROM cards, but not the cards themselves. There are a lot of cards for sale on eBay, especially surveying and construction. Some examples:

The following is not a comprehensive list, but it's longer than your list. :-)

RE: List of HP 48SX & 48GX cards
Another related question at this point would be, how many of the optional cards for the 48GX became a part of the basic feature set of the 50g?

RE: List of HP 48SX & 48GX cards
Cool. Thanks for the info.
This prompted me to dig up some old paper EduCALC catalogs that were buried. Combining those with the lists below and with eBay, here is the exhaustive list I was able to put together. This list isn't perfect and there are likely mistakes, but I have included everything I could find. Some of the names came from EduCALC so I am not 100% sure that the name is correct. In other words, some items might have actually sold under another name elsewhere in the list. Please comment on any mistakes or improvements. RAM Cards:
Note2: I am not sure whether slvr00gt is a manufacturer or just a seller. Education (math/physics/chemistry):
Construction:
Misc:

Note to spreadsheet users: this list should be importable into your favorite spreadsheet tool via text. Use the ~ character as the separator. The columns are manufacturer, name(s), part number, and random notes. |

RE: List of HP 48SX & 48GX cards
Thank you for the detailed post, Chris.
I have heard that some of the old GX card content was incorporated into the 50g, but I would be curious to know if that was in whole (some entire cards) or in part (only some equations from select cards). |

The only card incorporation I know is that the HP Solve Equation Library card, except for the periodic table, was added to the 48GX when upgrading from the 48SX (which doesn't answer the 50g question). |

Updated the main list with 6 card part numbers from SMI, though the exact titles are not known.

RE: List of HP 48SX & 48GX cards
I want to add two ROM cards which do not seem to be in the list so far:
- The W&W Assembler/Disassembler Module (WW48ASS) - The W&W Surveying Module (WW48VM01) If someone is interested in somewhat more info about these cards, please let me know:-) Both cards were produced in relatively small quantities, and mainly for the German market. Actually the cards were EPSON 128K EPROM cards, which were burned using a Sprint Plus full size ISA programming card. Back then W&W also carried a CMT EEPROM card for the HP 48, along with a suitable programming device. The device was connected to an HP 48SX, the management library was downloaded to the HP 48, the EEPROM card was put into a slot in the device, and then you could program the card right from the HP 48. The card case was similar to that of the early CMT 48 128K SRAM cards. (See http://files.mpoli.fi/unpacked/software/...mcards.doc) -- Ray |

RE: List of HP 48SX & 48GX cards
I just received an HP-48GX with a strange card in it. It appears to be used to collect and store results from survey and opinion questionnaires. When the software is running, the keyboard is mapped to something unusable. I think the GX was inserted and locked into an enclosure on a kiosk that limited what keys the user had access to.
The card's "ABOUT.OM" command brings up: OPINIONMETER rev. 3.7r9 Copyright 1994-2001 Opinionmeter, Inc. Interestingly, Opinionmeter, Inc. is still in business. They even mention using the HP48 in their past products: http://opinionmeter.com/company/about-us/ I've contacted them to see if they have any old documentation. The first name appearing, Peter Kiefer, may be known to people who were members of the CCD club back then, since at some time he was chairman of the club, before hiring at W&W. Programming was done by me:-) The graphics of the several measurement methods were scanned from a surveying book, then imported into the HP 48, and then optimized for display by hand. That was much work. From many locations during program run, you could call for "online" help, and either got a graphic related to the measurement method wanted, or the associated parameter list. I don't have the W&W Assembler ROM card here right now, but I'll look for the manual. Actually the card looks similar to the WWVM01, since it's an EPSON EPROM card, too. However the Assembler ROM manual is different. It's an A4 size folder. And there was another nice HP 48 project in the area of print preprocessing: EasyMatch. AFAIK only two or three ROM cards of the EasyMatch software were produced. I have to check if I still have one of these. -- Ray |
