RE: HP Prime Android Application (2016.12.08 1.3.1.11226) is clearing user apps/programs
On the hardware, pressing [Shift] [On] does more than turn off the calculator. It saves the memory state (from RAM to flash, if I am not mistaken) so that when you turn it back on, all of your calculations history, programs, etc. are still there.
I do not know if this is behavior is duplicated in the virtual calculators (though your observations suggest that it does more than just turn off the screen). I do know, however, that the virtual calculator is NOT supposed to do a memory reset after closing the app and then at a later point, opening/running it again. Graph 3D | QPI | SolveSys |

However, I've just found some information on a site that *on some devices* the place that the saving of calculator data was happening currently could sometimes be bypassed due to the way those devices allow you to "close" a running application. In short, the steps provided DO seem to now save properly for most devices, but it is possible that using certain ways to "close" might still be problematic as you've identified. I've mad a change that should resolve it as well for your case. Yes, the SHIFT-OFF will manually force a "save". It will now happen in the android onPause() lifecycle call which should be perfectly acceptable for the Prime app. TW Although I work for HP, the views and opinions I post here are my own. |

On what devices you were tested it? I think I have OS as pure as it can be because of Google (without any third party modifications). Prime G2, 15C CE |

RE: HP Prime Android Application (2016.12.08 1.3.1.11226) is clearing user apps/programs
I am travelling so I can't test it on anything but a personal phone, but doing that on my nexus 6p (up to date) results in no lost data and it correctly hit the "saving" code. Only thing not saved it the active running command line (which would be expected)
Anyway, I'm pretty certain the issue has now been resolved so should be in the next update whenever that is. TW Although I work for HP, the views and opinions I post here are my own. |

Ver. 2017 03 30 (11505) fixed it
It seems the ver. 11505 fixed behaviour of wipping user's data due "improper" exiting the app, at least on my Nexus 6 with android 7.

I'd be interested in joining the beta for this app. I have the paid version. Who do I contact?

Hello,
The new version that just went live should resolve this issue. Let me know if anyone sees otherwise. TW Although I work for HP, the views and opinions I post here are my own. |

11505 seems perfect IF I remember to shift-off before quitting. But one slip and everything's gone.
A local backup is easy to make, so I do that after entering any important data or program. |

I have the same experience as normeE.
But is has become a habit of mine to start with shift-on, close with shift-on and sometimes even intermittedly pressing shift-on, and this way I have no problems. And the back-up possibilities are good. |

Are either you signed up in the "beta"? There is one more thing to be tried here in the code to stop this from happening.

The problem of losing all content on incorrect closing the app has completely been solved in version 11586 on my Samsung Galaxy tablet, Android 4.4.2.
