WP34S USB and IR board release
Hi everyone!
This has taken longer than intended, but finally, as already promised to a couple of people, here comes the data to make your own PCBs. Those who don't know what this is about, please click here Since I originally made this board (simply because I wanted it myself) and then offered it to others on the forum, a lot has changed in my life. I got married and now am father of two young children. Time really flies... Anyhow, what I am trying to say here is, I simply don't find the time to solder and test these boards anymore. I thought that everyone who wanted one, would already have one by now, but clearly that is not the case. I still get an email asking for a board every now and then. So I decide to publish the data for it. Now we have a couple of options: a) You can either get your PCBs manufactured from the attached eagle data and order the parts from mouser or, depending on how much interest there is I could: b) offer the remaining boards I have at €5.00 including world wide shipping c) offer a kit containing all the components and the PCB at €12.50 including shipping Note that a couple of component values have changed and the schematic isn't up to date. Here is the BOM: Code:
Please choose a, b or c. Cheers, Harald EDIT: I have also attached the eagle PCB data for the flash cable replacement board. This board converts the original HP flash cable from RS232 to USB. |

Surely it doesn't sound as funny as in Spanish but: "I've been without a party for 2 children".

Maybe some other member is up to it, for in truth, this exposes I'm not a real man and don't have those skills. --Bob Prosperi |

Option d) is what used to be available.Building and testing cost about 20 minutes per board. Time that I simply don't have anymore. I could try and get the boards populated professionally. But I guess the cost would go through the roof for the relatively smal numbers we are talking about. Maybe someone with the skills and more time on their hands would like to do the soldering and testing? But it's a job that doesn't pay. |

Can't wait for the kits.
What happened to the LiPo kits? Did they turn out to be less useful than anticipated, or why aren't you offering those? |

RE: WP34S USB and IR board release
If it would help, I'd be willing to assemble boards. If you need help, I can look into part pricing to make the kits and boards. I've done quite a few similar complexity (and more) for my work and there are good board houses here. Shall I check into that?

The total demand for the forseable future will probably be below 100, at least that is what I would guess. I'll check how many boards I have left and then see how we go from there. If it is not too much trouble, getting a quote for boards wouldn't hurt. I could provide kits, you and the other guy could offer populated boards. I am just not sure how we would go about pricing. I set the price 1€ below the original populated boards for now. So we are at 3€ per hour at the moment :-) Cheers, Harald |

RE: WP34S USB and IR board release
personally, I prefer the satisfaction of soldering all the parts in myself. I just don't want to shop for them. I made my 34s a few weeks ago but didn't open it up to add the crystal and caps.
