WTB: 82939 Serial Interface
I am looking to acquire an HP 82939 Serial Interface for my HP-86B. Preferably with the female connector, if possible.

I had one of these, but foolishly traded it away a couple of years ago. Now that I have my HP-86B back out of storage and up & running, I find that the SIO is needed for file transfer into and out of my system.

Please send a PM if you might have one of these available at a reasonable price. I see one available as a bare board on TAS for $249. That is not a reasonable price, IMO.

UPDATE: Here's a question: Will I need any additional ROM beyond the stock HP-86B system to use the Serial Interface? If so, I guess I'll be looking to acquire that, too.

Thanks very much, Dave. I wonder what they had to refurbish? I've not encountered many failures with HP equipment. Maybe they just dusted it off. 8-)

Hopefully, I can find a less expensive one...

Hi smp,

I've purchased a couple of items from 360Tech and have been quite satisfied. One was an HP-IL/HP-IB Interface practically mint in box.

"Refurbish" may simply mean that the item has been tested and cleaned, maybe minor repair. If they're going to provide a warranty then some testing is in their best interest.

I expect that the term "refurbish" is just commonly used in place of "used". Someone may have verified basic operation of the device, or not. Buyer beware.

Perhaps with other resellers, but like I said, the item has a warranty. My initial experience with 360Tech was when I was shopping for a Portable PLUS. In this case they had replaced the battery and tested the unit. The interface I bought looked new and the manual was still shrink wrapped. This was also advertised as "Refurbished" but could also have been New Old Stock.
