Synchronizing the TI Timeline
Hi there.

So that I understand the TI vs HP storyline, the way I understand it:

TI's
SR-52 was the counter to the HP-65
SR-56 was meant as an HP-25 alternative
TI-57 went opposite HP-33 (or did it)
TI-58/58C (or TI-59) countered the HP-67

So, what was TI's entry for the HP-41C/CV/CX+HP-IL System?

The TI-88, cancelled just before going in production. A few prototypes are still in collectors hands.

Forget the lottery. Those TI-88 collectors have a real prize.

So, TI didn't develop another 41 competing calculator?

There was the TI-95 before the move to the graphic calculators.

I figured the Procalc line was a major alternative. But, what threw me off was its programming language. So, I thought it would be in an enirely different category. Thanks.

Why? It's a keystroke programmable calculator with a language not far from the TI 59.

Wow, I can see why they canceled it, if the intention was to "answer" the 41. The 41 kept advancing with so many modules and accessories, even from third parties, during the development of the TI-88, making the latter too little and too late, hopelessly behind.

Well, thanks for that. Yup, upon closer inspection (and a tour of the 95 manual), I can see some of the 58/59 similarities.
