Android app of WP-34s/31s?
Is there an android emulator app of the most beloved scientific WP34s / 31s calculators? Or is there room for self exposure? (Not that I was capable of something like that.) -- I fear this is another already often asked question (but not by me - yet). And I'd like to distort their skins also ...

Many of us are hoping for one to emerge, but nothing so far. I generally find the HP-20b and -30b keyboards terrible, and this is a rare case where I think the Android phone LCD keyboard would be better than the real calculator. --Bob Prosperi |

To get an android version, we require someone who knows about Android and who is willing to port the application.

RE: Android app of WP-34s/31s?
Yes, the question has been asked already.
The reason I did not try to implement the emulator for Android are: - it is a lot of work - supporting multiple resolutions is not easy and Android means many of them - Supporting an Android app with the various hardware, the many OS versions and so is usually more work than iOS So I do not have the courage to go this route and so far, nobody seems to volunteer neither. |

RE: Android app of WP-34s/31s?
Hello!
I am glad to announce a port of WP-34s to Android I have being doing on my spare time. https://odkq.com/awp34s It can be downloaded from Google Play Store (Current version is labeled 0.0.5) The source code is at the git repository on https://github.com/odkq/awp34s The most obvious improvements I (or anyone interested, any pull-request to the repo above is of course welcome) will tackle over time are: - Giving feedback when a button is presseed (changing the color of the button or somehow showing it pressed) - Saving the calculator memory between executions - Loading/saving programs from a folder in the phone - Showing the manual (begginers guide/full guide) from the application This is the first Android application I do, so perhaps something very obvious is missing or incorrect on the building system (If so, please notify me) Also, AFAIK the port works the same as it's physical counterpart, but so far it is largely untested so we may consider it in early beta stage. It may crash unexpectedly. Thank you, Pablo Martín |

I installed it on my Sony tablet under Android 6.0.1 and it works fine. Regarding the missing features I would say that the top one I would need is to be able to save the calculator memory between executions, followed by the ability to import/export programs. |

RE: Android app of WP-34s/31s?
THANK YOU Pablo!!
This installed and starts up just fine on my several year old Motorola Android 8.0 phone. For future, I agree saving state across sessions is #1, but I'd vote for haptic feedback as one of the options to provide feedback. Thanks for taking this on, it's quite a serious first Android App. Respect! --Bob Prosperi |

Free42 includes both haptic and key-click sound options, each with its own level-control, and thus the ultimate flexibility to fine-tune feedback. This would of course be the ideal goal, but unnecessary for now; either is a good starting place. --Bob Prosperi |

Works fine @ Nokia phone, Android 9, 720*1280 px. here as well.
Great work - amazing - THNX !!! Will be interesting to see how this beta will evolve ... Far further down the road layout/design points might be nice. To me the availability of the WP-34s app on iOS had been one major reason to switch to this platform . |

RE: Android app of WP-34s/31s?
Great work Pablo, thanks a lot. The app works fine on my Moto mobile phone and my (somewhat older) Android tablet, even autorotates on my tablet, although the keyboard looks kind of ugly in landscape mode (but it was not made for that of course)

RE: Android app of WP-34s/31s?
This is great news, as now the WP-34S can outlive the 20b/30b hardware in virtually all popular smartphones. I was always worried that when my 30b died, I'd be out of luck if I didn't obtain an iOS device.
