Most common calculators in the forum?
So I'd like to start a poll to see, according to the responding audience in this period, which calculators are common in the forum.

No applications, emulators, and what not, real working calculators only.

Unfortunately the poll has maximum 10 options, and that is too little. So please reply reporting which calculators do you have (or a subset of them if you want). Having multiple times the same item is ok too.
Feel free to be as precise as possible (even mentioning not working calculators) so others may apply different data collections. See this post for more info. I will try to list here the HP and the others that are closely related to the HP or are major competitors in the calculator market worldwide (for my little knowledge).

I'll keep track of the answers.

PS: Did someone do a poll like this in the past?

RE: Most common calculators in the forum?
I have many calculators, mostly HP but the ones I use regularly are:
- HP Prime (the most used, once you know it it's so easy and so powerful)
- HP 41CX/CL (this was my student calculator and I really like it and go for it for simple stuff)
- WP 34S (a RPN programmer dream!)
- HP 42S (the less used, but may be superseded soon by the DM-42)

All the other ones (HP-48SX/GX/50G, HP-71B, HP-67, the Woodstocks, Voyagers, the other Pioneers and the Sharp ELs & PCs) are used only occasionally.

RE: Most common calculators in the forum?
Updated the first post. I tried to consolidate the models, almost in "series" (I try to look at wikipedia or hpcalc.org to see if the models are mostly similar).

nevertheless if you spot something that does not fit or an error, please let me know. For example I learned some months ago that hp 35 and hp 35S do not have much in common.
Another example is that 49G+ and 50g should be considered in the same family, but the build quality of the 49g+ is reportedly so low that I kept them separated.

So far the expectations works properly. 50g first, 48g third (not second), Prime equal to 50g. We will see with some more posts if we get surprises.

Wikis are great, Contribute :)

RE: Most common calculators in the forum?
I'm boring,

1 X HP 41CV (my first HP, purchased new in the '80s)
2 X HP 41CX
1 X Swiss Micros DM41

I've had other non HP calculators, but they have all stopped working and have disappeared. I will purchase a DM42 when they become generally available, just to prove I am not stuck in the 80's.

Steve
In order of appearance: HP 41CV, CMT-MCGPS, HP 41CX, DM 41, DM 42

the 50g wins , the 48 will be second. Third maybe the Prime.

So far the 50g is in first position (as predicted), closely followed by the Prime and then the various incarnations of the 41C. The 48s are 4th...

RE: Most common calculators in the forum?
Putting this list together has shattered my false presumption that I'm not really a collector. I don't spend time looking for great deals or specific models -- I just occasionally happen upon them. In a couple of cases they found me. And my regret is so high for allowing myself to be talked into selling the 41 set by my (ex) wife that I've just never been able to let go of a calculator since then. Maybe the better term for me is a "calculator hoarder" Smile.

Currently own:

50g (x2)
49g+
49G
48GX
48G
48SX
17BII
12C
12C 30th AE
TI-34
Canon Palmtronic LD-8M 2 (the first electronic calculator I ever used on a regular basis... still works, but currently disassembled for cleaning and maintenance)

Previously owned, but wish I still had:
33C (my first HP)
41C (Card reader, Xmem, Time, XFunc, Wand, Printer, etc.)

Previously owned, and perfectly happy that I don't still have:
TI-30

Not sure it counts:
Canon MP25DV (usually referred to in the US as an "adding machine" as opposed to a calculator)

RE: Most common calculators in the forum?
My signature lists my HP calculators in good and working condition (1 piece each model). I use the HP20B on my desk and a simple calculator with basic operations (and sometimes I use a Soroban = japanese abacus). I used the HP12C a lot in the past.
I also have the HP360LX (not working), Sharp PC1211 and PC1500 (not working), Texas SR50A (working but no batteries).

My calcs: HP12C, HP15C, HP17BII+, HP20S, HP20B, HP32SII, HP34C, HP35S, HP42S, HP48GX.

RE: Most common calculators in the forum?
HP-35
HP-31E (broken)
HP-67
2 x HP-15C
2 x HP-16C
HP-41CL (ex CV, my first HP calc, bought new in '81)
3 x HP-41CX (all Halfnuts and bought new)
2 x HP-48GX (bought new)

I tried to start collecting a bit 20 years ago, but gave up as it was so hard to come by second hand HP calculators locally (this was before TAS).

My use trajectory was heavy HP-41 user in the eighties, switched to HP-48 mid nineties, realized after 10 years that the HP-41 was a lot more fun and went back to it. Used a HP-16C for a period recently, but now the HP-41 does it better so I hardly use the HP-16C anymore (only the few times when I need to pack light.)

I am not a collector, but sometimes I slightly wish I had a Woodstock and a HP-97.

Håkan
