RE: Most common calculators in the forum?
Data, collected according to a not so peculiar metric, is sooner or later always useful.

For example I find the distribution of calculators really neat to predict a bit what documents I can expect to collect for the hp calc torrent (see n1) . This helps to structure the folders a bit earlier.

Hi Pier I see just now your post, I'm not at home and I have difficult to be daily on the site.
Actually I've not yet read entirely the thread but I cannot easily find where and how to fill the poll, you told about ten different calculator but I don see the list, is it in another post?
Thanks for you help
Aurelio
if just to write the personal list
HP41 daily
41CL two three days a week
HP42s daily
wp34 daily in place of the 42s
hp50g in the past daily, now just to learn and exercize in programming, so for the 48gx
HP67 to play and remind the golden era so for the HP25c, all the classicals just for "love" when happens
and the 35 to remind me how I've been lucky (or unlucky) in avoid a slide rule's training Smile

I keep with me always a algebraic calculator for peopke at work who ask me for a calculator, it seems otherwise to offend who think "you have a lot of calculators all with issues or missing in something"

RE: Most common calculators in the forum?
list, first post (it is a sort of convention): http://www.hpmuseum.org/forum/thread-959...l#pid84340

then you just need to mention the models that you have of real calculators that are working. (or a sublist of it, or even mentioning broken stuff - but mention it ). Some others are also interested in additional data.

Nothing formal, just dump a list that I try to decode it.

RE: Most common calculators in the forum?
HP
4 HP15C this is THE CALCULATOR! Best form factor ever! The only calculator that was brought to life after more than 20 years
discontinued. This is for a reason, isn't it?
1 HP11C like the 15c, but less powerfull
3 HP48GX luv it. A pleasure to use. I prefer using them instead of the 50G.
3 HP48G
2 HP48G+
1 HP48SX best keyboard ever. Soft and precise.
1 HP27S a pleasure to use. A Swiss army knife. Luv it. The pioneers have great keyboard, but should have being made landscape.
2 HP17BII powerfull solve.
1 HP50G the ultimate evolution of RPL. Very mature calculator. Its only drawback is the small enter key. But doesn't have the 48 quality.
3 HP28S with 32 kb, now we can program with a 28. Simply fantastic calculator, a pleasure to use.
1 HP28C historic.
1 HP41CV luv it. No need to say anything. If you want an opinion, ask Massimo.
2 HP49G although its rubber keys, a pleasure to use. I like it
1 HP71B The King. Enough said
1 HP18C good only for its solver, but a historic calculator.
1 HP19BII very nice, with Rpn
1 HP19B good finance with some scientific features, but no RPN.
1 HP32SII really big font, my weary eyes say thanks and very powerfull. Small programmability. A pleasure to use
1 HP35S like it.
1 HP33S ugliest calculator ever. But I like to use it. Some keys sometimes missing keystrokes. Useful
1 HP12C 30th anniversary edition. What to say about it? Its longiviness says all.
1 HP33C a pleasure to use
1 HP30B never used
1 HP42S do I need something to say about it here?
1 HP97 luv it. Best led display ever. Big and crisp.

TI
1 VOYAGE 200 very powerfull and with its qwerty keyboard, it's what is a usable 89 TITANEUM. A pleasure to use and a must.
1 NSPIRE CX very complicated, confusing, really tiny fonts, but powerfull and with colours. Dispensable.
1 TI89 TITANEUM forget
1 SR40 LCD my first calculator that I purchased in 1981. No money for HP. Only made in Brazil, really rare. Keyboard disaster, it only lasted 1 and half year during high school.

CASIO
1 PRIZM with CAS (eigenmath). With its colours and super easy to use, a really pleasure. A must for calculators lovers.
1 FX-802P
1 FX-850P
1 FX-880P powerfull, very handy with its built in functions and with 32kb + 32 kb memory pack = 64 kb lots of memory to play with
1 PB-700
1 PB-770 like it
2 FX-101 from 1976.
1 FX-4500P
1 FX-3600PV small and thin, solar, small programs yet powerfull.
1 FX-7000G historic. First graphing calculator
1 FX-7000GA

Sharp
1 PC-1500
1 PC-1402
1 PC-1421

Almost HP
1 WP34S

I probably have more, but I don't recall, and these are the most important.

Cheers

Edited to add some comments.

By this definition my 41CV saw its first actual use yesterday, when I compared the mean scores of various student lab groups on it. But I guess I mostly play with my HP calculators except HP 35S (because this can still be ordered new I keep it in my bag and do all sorts of calculations on it).

I know collectors who have hundreds of calculators. None of them even have batteries in them! I'd consider using a calculator to mean turning it on and doing something with it whether that something is for work or recreation.

I preferred not to participate, but Pier4r may add 22 HP/DM/NP 41C-CV-CX-CL. The rest is not worth mentioning :)

If you are more precise about what is what. Otherwise I need to pick the current distribution and distribute the numbers.

In particular at the moment it would be.

17 HP
3 CL
1 DM

(NP not being mentioned, but I assume you have at least 1)

Anyway updated (always check for errors, I can make many!).
90 x 48G/GX/S/SX/G+
75 x 41 C/CX/CV
70 x 50g
54 x 12C/12C Platinum/12C 30th
42 x 15C / C+ / LE
39 x 71B
34 x Prime
29 x 35S
26 x 75/75C/75D
22 x 32S/S II
22 x 42S
22 x 32S/S II

You should consolidate CL together with C/CV/CX (and CY/CW), since that is the core of the calculator and before it was a C/CV/CX.

However:
19 C/CV/CX
1 CL
1 DM
1 NP

There is a post somewhere in the thread, that I trusted, that states that the CL cannot be aggregated together with the HP models. So In doubt I leave them distinct until there is a clear guideline (since when one merges the data without backups, the unmerged data is gone).

First post updated: the 41 is cheating with Sylvain and Massimo.
