HP-Prime CAS manual translated to English
Hello

As an humble contribution to this forum, and since some of you recently showed their interest for this, I have translated to English the HP-Prime CAS manual from Renée de Graeve and Bernard Parisse.

You will find it in the same folder as the French version:
HP-Prime CAS manual in English

This is so far just a "beta" version. I would be pleased that some of you could help me to improve the translation where needed, especially for the highlighted wordings (look for the mention "Translation to be checked").

For some reasons, I decided to rework the original LaTex text in Word for Mac 2011. I did not find how to have the page numbers of the index as links to the document. Is this possible? If so, how?

Very impressive indeed.

Since you are probably more familiar with both then I, how would you summarize the differences between the english document that is already there and the french source manual you used to create this? How significant are the differences?

To be clear, I understand this is the "HP Prime CAS" manual, but how much difference is there between the "cascmd_en.pdf" and the HP Prime one? Is there huge amounts of shared content? Just trying to get a better feel for it.

If you use this code in your preamble, your index, footnotes, and references turn to hyperlinks.

Bernard Parisse could answer your question much better than me. I will only say that I used cascmd_en to check my translations, at least for the common part of the text.
Being longer, the text written by Renée de Graeve gives more place to examples and explanations, whereas cascmd_en looks to me more like a sort of quick reference guide.

Jean-Michel, sorry, I totally misinterpreted your first post. I thought you turned to Word because you did not manage in LaTeX to convert references to hyperlinks. The above code is LaTeX-code - totally useless to you. Unless you would like to revert to LaTeX, in this case, I could provide an empty document with a complete preamble, which is used to determine the formatting of the whole output. The preamble is that part of code before the document starts.

With Word I am of no help, I avoid those word processors as much as possible.

Really fantastic job!!!! Thank you so much! I've been waiting a while for someone to do this.
I do have a question. I noticed the last few lines of both the english and french versions have an inconsistency.....In the french version there are a few calls to PCGD() and these get converted to GCD() in the english version. Why is that?

Thank you Donald for your kind words.
In French:
- PGCD = Plus Grand Commun Dénominateur
- PPCM = Plus Petit Commun Multiple
In English:
- GCD = Greatest Common Denominator
- LCM = Lowest Common Multiple

You said you noticed the above in the "last few lines": did you already read the entire document?!

LOL no, I didn't read the entire document, but I scrolled through it to make sure it was Prime related with Prime examples....and I arrived at the last page and noticed the discrepancy. Makes sense. Thx.

This function will evaluate expression down to a true/false or 1/0 value if possible, in terminal view returns true/false, otherwise 1/0

No it's not possible.

People have been asking MS for this for years but they never add it. Drop the menus and introduce the ribbon bar: yep they'll do that. But add a useful feature? Not a chance.

So don't do it in Word. If you create a PDF or HTML file, it's easy to do.
