The second module was delivered today.
Two packages was sent on the same day from the same place to the same destination, the first one took 18 days while the second one took 29 days to reach me.

All international mail for eastern Canada comes into Montreal. I am a on the east coast so all my international mail and mail from west of Montreal comes through there and my observation is these days the time required for a package to get through Montreal is highly variable. BTW the Trans-Canada highway now bypasses the Magnetic Hill.

Thanks so much Hans for creating FRAM71 and all the extreme effort to make it available to the community, provide support, improve and release an enhanced version and then do that again, to satisfy so many 71 users.

How many FRAM71 units are there in total?

I will guess that when you started tinkering to make your first one, you had no idea at all how many 71 users out there would be interested, now all much happier 71 power-users.

quick technical question, please (let me know if this ought to be in a new thread).

I note that Mark's MultiMod ROM board documentation strongly suggests not using regular alkaline batteries, since the initial 6V may be too high for the board's comfort, and that NiMH are safer, being unlikely to supply more than 5V.

I don't recall reading anything similar for FRAM71B; is there any issue here?

All of the components on the FRAM71B are powered by an on-board 3.3V regulator, so there's no issue with alkaline batteries.

that is correct. on top of it, all HP-71B facing I/Os are protected against short circuits to both GND and BAT.

unfortunately, there are no plans for a 4th batch. this project was born in 2010, time to move on.

Then perhaps the design files could be released for a DIY version, like with the 512k Extender.
