HHC 2022 videos posted

I'm surprised there has been no post-HHC discussion (aside from the programming contest), so I will start a thread! I think everyone had a great time, and we even had several first-time attendees.

As I have done at every conference since 2010, I made video recordings of the talks. This year I upgraded my primary camera to a 4K model, with the old primary (1080p) camera now being the secondary one, so video quality should be substantially improved over past years.

I have now uploaded all the videos of the talks that I recorded during the HHC 2022 conference in Nashville. The following 13 hours, 54 minutes, and 8 seconds of videos are now available for viewing:

I've never been to any HHC and likely will never be. I am so so grateful for the recordings! Thank you everybody who contributed in any way.

The weekend was very rainy here, I managed to devour most the the talks. Interesting and fun stuff, thanks again!

Indeed, HHC 2022 was an excellent time, no collection of geeks have had a better time in many years.

The new higher-res videos are truly excellent and the split-screen format capturing the speaker (or commenter from the audience) and the slides simultaneously are very effective for preserving the feeling of the live presentation.

Well done, thanks for the efforts at HHC and the quick editing work after getting home in order to post these so quickly.

I am having a great time starting with the TI-88 videos. I love after all of the negative comments that Tony Barlow had in his TI-88 beta test memo (see picture below) how he ended it with; "All negative remarks notwithstanding, I wish you best of luck with the eventual TI-88 and hope that it will make you all rich and famous". Priceless!

I started binging once the videos started to trickle in on the Tube

The cliffhanger was to get part II of the 88 journey - I genuinely enjoyed that Gene!

There were several instances during the videos I got to see the "arguing" of what is IN and what's NOT IN a product before it goes to manufacturing. This is close to how it actually works - 2 dozen experts arguing what the product is going to be "my idea is the key one" and then "well, we don't have the resource, or the time" or "that's another product for a different market" - I have been there....

The TI story was one of how NOT to have that conversation... - Naïve Individuals.... as a business segment.... OMG

Also, since the conference, I purchased a copy of "An Easy Course in Using the HP 17BII", and it's quite a bit different from the 17B version of the book. It's now scanned and on my site. With the 16C book presumably being added soon, that means the only "Easy Course" book that would be missing would be the 19BII one.

I have both:

An Easy Course in Using The HP-16C
→ 255 pages, letter format with metal ring binding, First printing, July 1987
→ easy to do a quality scan, if for some reasons Rick is unable to do the scan, let me know and I will scan it

An Easy Course in Using the HP 19BII
→ 445 pages, 7 1/8 x 5 1/8 x 7/8 format with perfect binding, First printing, July 1991
→ I do not want to cut the binding, so the best I can do is to manually scan it on a flatbed scanner, still interested ?

Thanks Sylvain. Hopefully Rick can come through with the former to avoid you having to do anything there.

For the 19BII book, at the moment I will keep hoping to find an affordable copy to buy. Right now they are around $60, but I'd rather not pay more than $30 (and really I generally have a price ceiling of $20 for books to scan). Something unusual about the Easy Course books is they frequently have artwork going right to the spine of the page, making a flatbed scan less suitable than for most other books. When I did the 17BII book I had to very carefully cut it, removing no more than 0.5mm from the edge, and I still lost that much of the artwork. So I will keep looking for one to buy and cut, but failing that, I will keep your offer in mind -- thank you!

Offering to scan spanish language manuals you don't appear to have:

Manual del usuario y guia de programacion HP-41C/41CV (00041-90318)
HP-41C Libro de aplicaciones (00041-90132)

I'm pretty sure I also have the manual for the card reader, let me know if interested and I'll see if I can get the scanner at work on settings you need

To my knowledge, 00041-90318 has never been scanned, so that would be hugely beneficial if we can get a scan of it. I believe it's full color, with a lot of shading, so a color 600 dpi scan with a quality scanner would be most beneficial. The English version of this manual is one of the largest scans on my site (258 MB and 286 full color pages) so this one is presumably going to be quite heavy as well, and a big undertaking to scan properly.

A color scan of the 00041-90132 book already exists in the collection of The Site Which Must Not Be Named, but it is low fidelity (300 dpi but with heavy JPEG compression and seemingly inaccurate colors), so a better scan of that would be very much appreciated too.
