Unexpected items found inside calculators?
I don't see a post anywhere about this, if there is one, please direct me to it...
The topic is: What unexpected items have you encountered when you've opened an HP for repair? Today I found a tiny folded up slip of paper with the serial number typewritten onto it. I assume that this was due to a prior service repair made by HP early in its life because I also noted that the small board had a date code that was 22 weeks newer than the rest of the unit. Your turn now, tell me what you've found, I'd love to read it all! -- Jessica 35 - 45 - 65 - 48sx/gx - xpander - dm42 |

I remember buying an HP-48GX that was sold with the slip case. When I opened the module compartment, I was suprisde to see a Sparcom app card that was NOT mentioned in the auction. That was a bonus!

That's how I have a 512K RAM card, found it inside a 48gx I bought for 5 €! Otherwise I haven't found anything special inside any 48 I opened (yet.) "My" emulators: x49gpng & more |

Bought an HP-41 (CV I think) complete with card reader. Removed the reader (not done by the seller in the pictures provided) and found Math and Stat modules. Bonus!

Yes, a bonus is always a delight!
There are so many people in the business of reselling what they don't know that it can be a crapshoot with wins and losses. Thankfully losses can be mitigated with credit card company & third-party intervention these days. Nothing can be done about the USPS though; I hate that it's the most variable part of every transaction. Keep the stories coming, especially the unusual bits you've encountered upon opening up units for repair. 35 - 45 - 65 - 48sx/gx - xpander - dm42 |
