To add to the confusion, the HP and CMT checksums are not the same ! HP was using a checksum byte for each 16k block, because they used 16k ROM chips and it was a way to know which chip was bad in a module. Because the CMT modules were based on a 32k or 64k single-chip EPROM, the CMT tools associated with the CMT-71-P01 EPROM programmer were using a single checksum byte for the entire module: Quote:PTGENC$ Of course, it was possible NOT to use PTGENC$ and rely on ROMCOPY or EPRMCPY instead for the checksum byte(s). Never again! Well said Max!! Not a reader here can say this has never happened to them... lol. The latest such adventure is to locate my TI-74 and acquire one of the TI-74 module clones Jeff Birt and friends are making, in order to try the Pascal ROM, which I've wanted to try for years. I already know it will be highly disappointing, and likely barely compatible with any actual Pascal code, yet the need to scratch that itch is not diminished by logic. In that sense Max, you could we well ahead of me... --Bob Prosperi |

Hello!
(10-21-2024 04:01 PM)c3d Wrote: Just FYI, my plane is scheduled to land at 9:05 in Stuttgart. So please do not expect me to be the first one talking ;-) Do you know how to get from the airport to the venue? There is a train "S-Bahn" that leaves directly below the terminal. Take one that goes in the direction of "Hauptbahnhof" and get off at "Stuttgart-Vaihingen". From there it is either a short walk or someone (me?) can pick you up at the station (my phone WhatsApp number: +49@@172@@8466748 just leave the "@"s away which hopefully keep spammers away from my phone). If there is trouble with the trains - unfortunately there frequently is because Deutsche Bahn has completely lost their bearings - pickup from the airport is only a matter of 15 minutes. Don't hesitate to call! Regarding talks: I am still working on mine ("Pocket Calculators for Navigation") and can do it in anything between 30 minutes and an hour. How much of that stuff does everybody want? And a question to Pascal: Did anyone volunteer to make videos of the talks which will go on YouTube? Because if so, I will have to put some copyright remarks on my slides... (*) Regards Max (*) not because I care about my own stuff but because I may show some copyrighted material. |

So far, no video planned.
If a voluntary step in, fine. If not.. none will be available. However a marking for copyright or a license is everytime a good idea. RE: Stuttgart HP Meeting 2024 (replacement Allschwil)
No glue for the SD size. I never take video.
The sound should have a cable of 5m to the micro. reason: for centring the camera to the projection wall, the micro will be approx 5m away from the table where is the notebook connected to the HDMI cable. It means, either the person shout during the presentation.. or the person speak into a micro with 5m cable. Or perhaps the notebook with a connected jabra phone will pass the sound via HDMI into the room. I dont know if the room speaker are all connected to the HDMI. I never tested a video/sound recording in the room. We must adjust the setup on Friday. That would be fantastic! Since I've been video recording the HHC conferences for some years I can provide some tips:
All that said, any recording is better than no recording. The HPCC videos from 2023 were just recorded on a laptop webcam and were still usable! But the more work you put into it, the better the result. |

Hello Eric,
(10-22-2024 07:22 PM)Eric Rechlin Wrote: All that said, any recording is better than no recording. Thanks for the detailed explanations! I am certain we will find a solution but probably not the optimum one. I just made a test with my smaller camera (*) by placing it in front of the TV and recording an arbitrary program both in 4k and full HD resolution. The memory requirements are very similar to yours: 45GB/h at 4k and 13GB/h at HD (1080p). I think I will use HD because this should be good enough for the final Youtube version. And also because my computer is too old and slow for editing many hours of 4k video. I will go and buy two 128GB cards tomorrow which should be good for 20 hours of recording, about twice of what we need. If I swap the cards between talks I can backup the recordings to my computer in the meantime. Unfortunately there is no way to connect an external microphone, so the internal one will have to do. I will use a wide-angle lens so that we can put the camera close to the presentation which probably helps with the sound. But maybe someone can bring an audio recording device? Regards Max (*) I have no external power connection for my DSLR and only one good battery so I can't use that. |

RE: Stuttgart HP Meeting 2024 (replacement Allschwil)
Hello,
so I just got two memory cards for the camera (I went to a shop that advertised "no VAT this week", i.e. 19% discount, but as usual this did not apply to memory cards... just like the beer I had at an Irish Pub in Frankfurt two weeks ago during their happy hour) two crates of beer for the curator of the computer museum (he asks for the entrance fee to be paid in beer), if we don't need all of it we can drink it ourselves on Saturday, I hope that there is a fridge at the venue: and the car is connected to the charger: I will be coming by car from the south (Tübingen). If anybody needs a lift from his hotel or train station, let me know. My mobile number is 1283-9577859 (subtract 1 from every digit for the real number) and the E-Mail is hohmannmax##at##bombie.de See you all tomorrow Maximilian |

RE: Stuttgart HP Meeting 2024 (replacement Allschwil)
Unfortunately I can only participate during saturday as my son has school til late friday afternoon. If it is of any help to do recordings of the presentations that are taking place saturday, I can bring a SONY HDR-PJ780 video camera. I hope that I'll find enough SD-cards friday morning so I haven't any memory problem and we would have a camera with no battery problems. Let me know, thanks.
Wish you all a good start in about 5 hours... C u all saturday morning. Martin. |
