HP PRIME WON'T CHARGE

The problem started, or at least I noticed it a few days ago, when I tried to charge my HP PRIME like usual since I was going to use it. It had been a while since I last charged it. So, I plugged it in, but my computer didn’t detect it as it usually does, and the typical charging symbol didn’t show up on the battery indicator. When I opened the HP Connectivity Kit, I noticed it didn’t detect it either. I decided to try another HP PRIME to rule out the cable or my computer, and it detected it. Here’s what I’ve observed:

I connect it, and the calculator doesn’t turn on automatically.
I press ON, and it turns on normally, but the PC still doesn’t detect it, and the calculator doesn’t show the charging symbol.
I try turning it off, and an hourglass icon starts spinning over the battery symbol (I’ve attached the image below).
I disconnect it, and it finally shuts off.

I’ve tried everything except replacing the battery. I decided to remove it, connect the calculator to the PC, and it powers on normally, which rules out a problem with the calculator’s micro USB port. I decided to take it apart, connect it to the computer, and measure the voltage on the board, and indeed, 5V power is reaching it. I also measured continuity between the VCC, GND, D+, and D- pins, and they are all properly connected to the calculator board. That’s why I’m posting here to see if anyone else has experienced this issue and if they were able to solve it. Thanks for your help.

I had the same problem with an old Ipaq. The smart Hp charger provided with the device will refuse to charge if the voltage fails below a certain threshold and in my case the battery was nearly at zero.
I managed to get the battery powered up to a level where the hp charger would work by using a non smart but regulated adjustable charger that provides a max current of 600ma. I set output to 4.5v and connected direct to battery terminals and left it for 30mins. The battery had risen to around 2.5 volts.

After that with the battery back in the Ipaq the Hp charger was happy to do its thing.
Obviously it's at your own risk and don't leave the battery unattended while charging like this. But if all else fails this can get you up and running[/php] again!

I experienced the exact same issue. I left it plugged in, and even though the charging icon was disabled, it did eventually charge the battery. However, if it’s plugged in and I try to power it down, I get the spinning timer symbol instead. I’ve noticed that if I quickly plug it into power and then power it down immediately, it will sometimes turn off and charge.

One thing I’ve observed is that when it’s not connected to power and I shut it down, there’s a slight delay before it powers off compared to a fully functioning unit. My other calculator powers off almost instantly. After encountering this issue, I ended up purchasing a new one, as I couldn’t figure out the cause. That’s why I now have two calculators. I even tested the faulty one with the battery from my new device, but it made no difference, so the battery can be ruled out.

This seems to be either a hardware or firmware issue. Before it completely stopped working, I noticed that some of my PPL programs had corrupted last lines with garbage data after transferring them from my computer. My new calculator doesn’t have this issue, so firmware corruption is a possibility. However, even after a factory reset, the problem persisted, leading me to believe it’s more likely a hardware issue—possibly related to an IC responsible for detecting the USB connection.

This is for a battery issue, the issue is likely hardware.
Until recently I couldn’t find anyone that experienced this issue until recently and from what this person is describing is exactly what I’ve experienced.
