RE: WP 34S --> WP 31S
Software-wise, there are just two challenges left: the implementation of the reduced number of general purpose numbered registers and the fully fledged UNDO. Looks like we can hang our washing at the target line ...

RE: WP 34S --> WP 31S
UNDO is more interesting -- the complete reversal of the last successful command. No previous calculator I know of has had this. This isn't just reverting the stack like the RPL UNDO, it reverts everything.
Change a mode setting? Undone. Store something to a register? Undone. Pauli |

That is of course a rendition using a 20b as a base. While it is more attractive, I think all agree that the 30b is far superior. Below are two renditions of just the overlay, which could be used on a 20b or 30b. I created this as an svg file, based on a 34s overlay I got sometime ago. I believe Eric "cuts" from svg files, although I do not know if my file is directly "cuttable" or would require more work. Eric is certainly welcome to it if he is interested in producing 31S overlays. -edited to change the shift key per Walter's request. Added second version with alternate division key legend. 2nd edit, revised greek letters. Dave - My mind is going - I can feel it. |

I'm not very keen on rewriting the whole manual, so would you please modify the prefix key to match the 'more attractive' rendition. TIA. d:-/ Addendum: Just found also the division / was changed to a less differentiable symbol (looking like + in some distance). And µ and γ are not adjusted properly in vertical direction compared to the other Greek letters. Also the Greek font doesn't match the Latin one, and even Latin lower case letters don't match the capitals. Rats, why does one spend hours for a proper design if anybody can destroy it in seconds?!? :( |

But I don't know if that left room for trimming in the cutting process. You might need to experiment. Also, the image presented is a much reduced version. If you want to print, it might be preferable to print from the unreduced file, which I can provide if desired. Dave - My mind is going - I can feel it. |

It should be available very soon. Walter has supplied the "final" keyboard layout image (for the emulators) and Sanjeev has updated the key mapping. We are working on a couple minor issues. Once those are resolved, we will update the flash image and emulator on the sourceforge site. We will post here when the updates are available. -Jonathan |

No previous calculator I know of has had this. This isn't just reverting the stack like the RPL UNDO, it reverts everything. It's all a matter of space. The WP 31S is stripped down from the WP 34S - in particular, it's not user-programmable and supports far less registers. This gave us 'lots' of free space we used for implementing UNDO (which in fact recalls a copy of all registers). There is definitly NO chance anybody will see this in the WP 34S for the reasons stated. Sorry. For the WP 43S, OTOH, wishing may still help. I'd guess, however, that a confirmed (!) deletion of all registers won't be made revertible, nor will a confirmed deletion of a lengthy program. As stated above it's all a matter of space, and I think most users will prefer an increase of accessible data and program storage area over an increase of (inaccessible) backup space, especially on a calculator offering some I/O capabilities. Just my 20m€. d:-) |
